Hermes x Pixel Agents

aiunlocked1412/hermes-agent-pixel

Bridge that shows live Hermes Agent sessions as animated characters in the Pixel Agents office

In short

Hermes x Pixel Agents is a TypeScript and Python bridge that makes each Hermes Agent session appear as an animated character in the Pixel Agents pixel-art office, with subagents drawn as teammates.

What Hermes x Pixel Agents does

A normal Hermes plugin, pixel_observer, registers lifecycle hooks such as pre_tool_call, subagent_start and post_llm_call and forwards them over HTTP, with a bearer token, to a Pixel Agents server. A HermesBridge on that server writes the existing AgentStateStore, so the office UI needs no new protocol. Characters type when Hermes writes, read when it searches, raise a waiting bubble when a turn ends, and spawn teammate characters when Hermes delegates to subagents. Hermes and Claude Code sessions can share one office.

The bridge exists because Pixel Agents correlates tools through a single id, which cannot represent Hermes's concurrent tools, gates subagents behind a team provider and creates agents only from JSONL transcripts that Hermes does not have. No Hermes core changes are needed, and the plugin works with the CLI, TUI and gateway. The repository contains a runnable Pixel Agents fork with the bridge, 11 bridge unit tests and the plugin folder to copy into ~/.hermes/plugins/.

Key features

  • Each Hermes session becomes an animated character in a pixel-art office
  • Hermes subagents appear as separate teammate characters
  • Push-based pixel_observer plugin using Hermes lifecycle hooks
  • Works with the Hermes CLI, TUI and gateway, with no core changes
  • Hermes and Claude Code can appear in the same office

When to use it

  • Watching what a running Hermes agent and its subagents are doing in a browser
  • Monitoring several concurrent sessions at a glance
  • Showing a Hermes demo as a visual office scene

Who it is for: Hermes Agent users who want a visual, real-time view of agent activity.

How it fits with Hermes Agent

Built for Hermes Agent as a plugin plus a Pixel Agents provider, so Hermes can appear in the Pixel Agents office.

How to install Hermes x Pixel Agents

These commands are copied from the project's README. Check the repository for the latest steps before you run them.

cd pixel-agents
npm install && (cd webview-ui && npm install) && (cd server && npm install)
npm run build
node dist/cli.js --port 3100

Requirements: Node.js and npm to build the Pixel Agents fork, and Hermes Agent with the pixel_observer plugin copied into ~/.hermes/plugins/

Note: Starting the office server also installs Claude Code hooks into ~/.claude/settings.json unless you turn that off in the UI's Settings.
