Hermes Talk

What Hermes Talk does

Hermes Talk adds interruptible, duplex speech-to-speech conversation to an existing Hermes Agent install. You speak, it answers aloud, and it calls the agent's own tools without leaving the conversation. It can hand work to background agents while you keep talking, speak the results when they land, and handle current approval requests.

It runs in three places: the terminal with hermes talk, a Discord voice channel with /talk join, and the Talk tab of the Hermes dashboard. Provider lanes include OpenAI Realtime on a ChatGPT subscription through codex login, xAI Grok Voice on an X Premium or SuperGrok login, and Gemini Live, which needs a GEMINI_API_KEY. In Discord, mutating tools stay denied until TALK_DISCORD_OPERATOR_USER_IDS is set. The README says it is not a standalone assistant and does not replace Hermes's built-in turn-based voice mode.

Requirements: Python 3.11 or later and Hermes v0.17 or later, plus a ChatGPT, X Premium or SuperGrok login or a provider key such as GEMINI_API_KEY, depending on the voice lane
