World of Warcraft addon for chatting with local coding agents, Hermes Agent included

In short

wow-ai is a World of Warcraft addon and companion bridge that lets you chat with local coding agents from inside the game. Hermes Agent is one of five supported agents.

What wow-ai does

The addon draws your message as a strip of coloured squares in a screen corner. A bridge captures that corner four times a second, decodes it and runs the chosen agent headless in the chat's folder. WoW addons are sandboxed, so this is the way out. Replies are echoed into game chat, and you get pinged when an answer lands.

The agents are Claude Code, Codex, Grok Build, Antigravity and Hermes. For Hermes the bridge runs hermes chat --query-file - and resumes with --resume, and it never uses --yolo. Each chat is a persistent session with its own folder, running in parallel. The agent can see your character, zone and quest log if enabled, draw routes on the world map, and create macros. The README says it injects no code, reads no game memory and generates no input. It runs on Windows, Linux with Wine, and macOS.

Key features

  • Multiple parallel agent chats
  • Live progress with action count and files
  • Character and quest context for the agent
  • Routes and ore or herb layers on the world map
  • Create macro button
  • Windows, Linux (Wine) and macOS

When to use it

  • Asking Hermes to plan a questing route
  • Generating a macro without alt-tabbing
