Desktop pet that shows the live status of Codex, Claude Code, Hermes, OpenClaw and other agents
UniPet is a Node.js and Electron desktop pet that shows what AI coding agents are doing, such as thinking, running tools, waiting for input or failing. It connects to Hermes Agent through a Hermes plugin added with one command.
What UniPet does
UniPet is a local visual status layer for AI agents. A small animated desktop companion reflects idle, running, waiting, failed and review states, so you can tell when an agent needs attention without watching the terminal. Agents, hooks, scripts and plugins drive it through a localhost protocol over HTTP at 127.0.0.1:8768 or WebSocket at ws://127.0.0.1:8769/ws, with events carrying source, state, message, action and ttl.
Connectors exist for Codex and Claude Code through hooks, Hermes and OpenClaw through plugins, and DeepSeek-TUI through lifecycle hooks, while custom agents can call unipet state from scripts. Pets are Codex-compatible skins that can be searched, installed, switched and removed from the CLI. UniPet runs on Node.js and Electron, keeps events on the local machine and stores its config and installed pets under ~/.unipet.
