Hermes CTL

byJoey/hermesctl

Bash and gum control panel for Hermes Agent with menus for install, gateway, models and CLIProxyAPI

In short

Hermes CTL is an interactive control panel for Hermes Agent written in Bash with gum menus. It wraps the official hermes CLI and common admin tasks, and adds a CLIProxyAPI menu for third-party API keys.

What Hermes CTL does

Hermes CTL is an interactive control panel for Hermes Agent written in Bash with the gum menu toolkit. It gathers the official hermes CLI and common operations into menus: install and upgrade, chat and sessions, the messaging gateway and WhatsApp pairing, models and auth, skills and plugins, memory, Honcho, MCP, cron and webhooks, logs and diagnostics (logs, doctor, dump, status, insights), config, OpenClaw migration through hermes claw migrate, profiles and backups of ~/.hermes, plus shell completion and ACP.

Forms and options are handled inside the script, and hermes is called only with subcommands and arguments, which avoids the official full-screen setup screens. Default models are written with hermes config set model.* or hermes auth add with an API key. The third-party API section carries over the key-management approach of the author's OpenClaw CTL: a CLIProxyAPI menu to start and stop the service, run OAuth login, generate and view keys and edit config, plus a one-step option that points OPENAI_BASE_URL at the local proxy, default port 8317. On first run the script copies itself to ~/.local/bin and creates an hc shortcut.

Key features

  • Menus covering install, upgrade, sessions, gateway, models, auth, skills, plugins, MCP, cron and webhooks
  • Diagnostics menu for logs, doctor, dump, status and insights
  • CLIProxyAPI submenu for service control, OAuth login and key management
  • One-step setup that points OPENAI_BASE_URL at a local proxy
  • OpenClaw migration through hermes claw migrate, plus profile handling and ~/.hermes backups
  • hc shortcut created on first run

When to use it

  • Administering a Hermes install from menus instead of remembering subcommands
  • Routing Hermes through a local CLIProxyAPI instance with a third-party API key
  • Backing up ~/.hermes or migrating from OpenClaw

Who it is for: Hermes Agent operators who prefer menu-driven administration over memorizing CLI subcommands.
