Tauri 2 and React desktop GUI for Hermes Agent, aimed at macOS, with chat, files, terminal and memory editor

In short

My Hermes Desktop is a Tauri 2 and React desktop GUI for Hermes Agent, aimed mainly at macOS. It wraps the hermes CLI in a chat window with a session list, file tree, embedded terminal, memory editor and the Hermes dashboard.

What My Hermes Desktop does

My Hermes Desktop is a desktop client for Hermes Agent built with Tauri 2 and React 18, positioned as a native macOS companion that needs no terminal work. For each message the Rust layer runs hermes chat -q, adding --resume for existing sessions, reads stdout line by line, strips ANSI codes and parses the output into plain text, think blocks, tool calls and status events that stream into the chat view.

The window adds a session sidebar that reads ~/.hermes/sessions/, a file tree, a snapshot timeline with one-click restore, an embedded terminal, a model switcher that writes config.yaml, and an editor for the agent's MEMORY.md and USER.md with a character-limit bar. Kanban, cron, config and MCP screens come from the Hermes dashboard embedded in an iframe. The README, written in Chinese, offers three themes, lists macOS as the main platform, and notes that on Windows the Hermes CLI must run under WSL.

Key features

  • Streaming chat with collapsible think blocks and tool call display
  • Slash command menu and @ references to files and skills
  • Session sidebar with colored tags and status badges

  • Editor for MEMORY.md and USER.md with a size limit bar
