Hermes Footprint

BkashJEE/hermes-footprint

Disk usage page for Hermes Desktop that maps ~/.hermes and flags what can be trashed

In short

Hermes Footprint is a Hermes Desktop page that shows how much disk space Hermes Agent uses and which parts can be removed. It sorts the ~/.hermes folder by what each directory means to Hermes.

What Hermes Footprint does

Hermes Footprint applies the idea of a disk-usage treemap to the one folder general disk tools cannot interpret: ~/.hermes. It knows whether a directory is the Hermes app, a Bot's memory, a worktree, a backup, a browser profile, a language server or a package cache, and it also tracks what your Bots created outside that folder.

Items that could be cleared appear as cards with a size, a plain name, the reason, and a SAFE or LOOK FIRST badge. For git checkouts it reports branches, changed and untracked files, commits that exist on no remote, and stashes, so unique work is not trashed. Actions are Keep or Trash only, nothing moves until confirmed, and files such as state.db, memories, skills, plugins, config and .env are never offered. A hand-off feature drafts a cleanup job for a Bot in Hermes chat but sends nothing by itself. It adds hermes footprint and /footprint commands.

Key features

  • Treemap of ~/.hermes colored by what each folder is to Hermes
  • Cleanup cards with SAFE or LOOK FIRST badges and git status for checkouts
  • Per-Bot cards with a mini treemap, plus folders and files each Bot wrote
  • Review one by one with Keep or Trash; nothing moves until confirmed
  • Draft a cleanup job for a Bot in chat without sending it
  • hermes footprint command and /footprint in chat

When to use it

  • Finding out why ~/.hermes has grown to tens of gigabytes
  • Clearing old worktrees and package caches without losing unpushed commits
  • Seeing which folders your Bots worked in and which files they wrote

Who it is for: Hermes Agent users who run Hermes Desktop and want to reclaim disk space safely.

How it fits with Hermes Agent

A plugin-style page built for Hermes Desktop; it complements the disk-cleanup plugin that ships with Hermes by showing everything in ~/.hermes, not only tracked temporary files.
