What LitHermes does

LitHermes keeps goals, plans, evidence and next steps on disk in the project, so a later session can pick up from the same record instead of starting over. The flow is Plan, Make, Check, then leave the next step. You start it by adding one word, lit, to a request such as a bug fix, a screen to build or a project to finish.

It installs through an npm package that places the plugin in your Hermes home and edits Hermes configuration so it loads, and it also installs the Ignition skin. To try it safely, point HERMES_HOME at a new empty directory first, and add --no-patch-installed-hermes to avoid compatibility edits to the Hermes installation. LitHermes updates itself: it checks the npm registry for a newer stable release when you run install, check or doctor in a terminal and on the first message of an interactive Hermes CLI session. It backs up the plugin folder and config, runs the new installer, and rolls back if the install fails, exceeds 30 seconds or fails the doctor check.

Requirements: Hermes Agent, Node.js 18 or later, and write access to your Hermes home (normally ~/.hermes)

Note: Installation edits your Hermes configuration, and the plugin updates itself from the npm registry unless auto-update is disabled.
