Full-screen terminal visualizer that animates Hermes Agent tool calls, memory writes and sessions
Hermes Neurovision is a terminal visualizer for Hermes Agent that turns agent activity such as tool calls, memory writes and session events into full-screen ASCII animation.
What Hermes Neurovision does
Hermes Neurovision runs in the terminal as a full-screen ASCII art display. Events fired by the agent, including tool calls, memory writes and session lifecycle changes, drive field brightness, density, traveling packets, expanding pulses and particle bursts. Its data sources include sessions, tool calls, memory writes, cron jobs, trajectories and security events.
It ships 85 animated themes built on two rendering engines. The ASCII field engine computes every character cell each frame from a mathematical function such as a fluid simulation or a strange attractor, while the older node-based engine shows packets travelling along graph edges and is kept as legacy themes. Overlays provide a color-coded log stream, a tuner with sliders and toggles, and a debug panel. Daemon mode shows a gallery screensaver when idle and switches to live mode when the agent is active. The project uses only the Python standard library.
Key features
- 85 animated themes across ASCII field, hybrid and legacy node-based engines
- Visuals driven by live agent events: tool calls, memory writes, session lifecycle
- Log overlay, tuner overlay with sliders and toggles, and a debug panel
- Daemon mode: gallery screensaver when idle, live mode when the agent is active
- Quiet mode, gallery mode and a --theme flag to pin one theme
- Pure Python standard library, no external dependencies
When to use it
- Watching what a Hermes Agent is doing in a spare terminal pane or second monitor
- Leaving a terminal screensaver running that switches to live mode when the agent starts work
- Checking event timing with the debug panel while testing agent behavior
Who it is for: Hermes Agent users who want an ambient, visual view of agent activity in the terminal.
How it fits with Hermes Agent
Built specifically for Hermes Agent; its install helper sets up a gateway hook and auto-launch config so Hermes events feed the visuals.
