hermes-progress-tail renders live progress in compact bubbles. It shows the latest tool calls, sticky todo state, delegated subagent progress, reasoning and background jobs, and it updates a single editable message instead of posting a new one for each step. Completed turns keep their bubble as history, and a new user turn after a final answer starts a fresh bubble.

On platforms that cannot edit messages it falls back conservatively. Common secrets are redacted before anything is rendered, and the plugin suppresses the built-in Hermes gateway progress and reasoning display on the sessions it owns. When the agent calls clarify, the bubble freezes a bounded decision checkpoint rather than an activity transcript, and that checkpoint never includes raw chain-of-thought. The installer merges default settings such as tool line count, delegate limits and timestamp format without overwriting existing values.
