Pixel desktop pet that animates as AI coding agents, including Hermes Agent, think, run tools and finish

In short

Clawd on Desk is an Electron desktop pet that reacts in real time to what an AI coding agent is doing, and Hermes Agent is one of the many agents it supports.

What Clawd on Desk does

Clawd lives on your desktop and changes its animation to match the state of your agent. It thinks when you send a prompt, types while tools run, juggles when subagents are active, shows a bubble when a permission is needed, celebrates when a task completes and sleeps when you step away. Three themes ship built in (Clawd the pixel crab, Calico and Cloudling), and custom themes and imported Codex Pet animation packs are supported.

Most agents connect through hooks that you install from Settings, Agents. Some agents get full permission bubbles, while others are state-only and keep Allow and Deny choices in their own terminal. A custom HTTP agent option lets another local executable post lifecycle events to Clawd's /state endpoint. The app runs on Windows 11 (separate x64 and ARM64 installers), macOS and Ubuntu or Linux, and the code is licensed AGPL-3.0.

Key features

  • Animated states for thinking, tool use, subagents, permission review, completion and idle
  • Three built-in themes plus custom themes and imported Codex Pet packs
  • Desktop permission bubbles for agents that expose a blocking permission hook
  • Hook installers in Settings, Agents for supported coding agents
  • Custom HTTP agent registration for other local executables, state-only

When to use it

  • Starting a long agent task, walking away and coming back when the pet signals it is done
  • Getting a glanceable status for terminal-based agents that have no graphical window
  • Spotting which agent is waiting on a permission decision when several are running

Who it is for: Developers who run AI coding agents in a terminal and want a desktop indicator of what each agent is doing.

How it fits with Hermes Agent

Hermes Agent is named in the README's list of supported agents, next to Claude Code, Codex CLI, OpenClaw and others. It is a general tool, not built for Hermes alone.

Requirements: Windows 11, macOS or Ubuntu/Linux; Node.js for source builds
