Self-hosted iPhone companion for Hermes with chat, voice, widgets and sensor data exposed over MCP

In short

Hermes iOS is a self-hosted iPhone companion for a user-owned Hermes runtime. A native iOS app, a relay and a host-side connector let Hermes chat, speak and read iPhone sensor data such as location and health metrics through MCP tools.

What Hermes iOS does

Hermes iOS has three parts: a native iPhone app, a relay, and a connector that runs next to the Hermes install. The relay is yours and the app can point to any compatible relay, so the runtime does not turn into a hosted service. The app provides streaming chat with attachments, inline diffs and returned images, a voice mode using OpenAI Realtime with live camera context, Home Screen widgets, Live Activities and a slash-command catalog drawn from Hermes built-ins, installed skills, personalities and quick commands. APNs and CarPlay are supported but optional.

The connector stores sensor data from the phone in a local SQLite database at ~/.hermes-mobile/sensors.db. That includes GPS location with reverse-geocoded addresses, 11 HealthKit metrics such as steps, heart rate, sleep and blood oxygen, and CoreMotion activity. Hermes reads it through the hermes_mobile MCP server, which has 8 tools covering location, location history, health summary, single metrics, activity, the schema and read-only custom SQL queries. The README says the data never leaves the user's machine. The project states that it is independent and not affiliated with Nous Research.
