Pixel-art real-time dashboard that shows Hermes Agent sessions as animated office characters
Hermes Pixel UI is a pixel-art real-time dashboard that turns local Hermes Agent activity into animated characters in a small office. Rooms reflect what Hermes is doing, such as coding, reading files, planning or waiting.
What Hermes Pixel UI does
Hermes Pixel UI uses the Hermes session_id as the identifier for each visual agent and moves agents between rooms by activity. Terminal, browser and code work happens on the Main Floor, file reads, search and memory in the Archive, LLM calls and planning in the Meeting Room, clarifications and idle time at the Brew Bar, and finished tasks in Recharge. The README says the room mapping is heuristic and lives in backend/server.py.
Events arrive through a pixel-ui-bridge plugin that posts lifecycle events to POST /api/hermes-event, and the FastAPI backend pushes updates to a React frontend over WebSocket. When live events are unavailable, it polls ~/.hermes/sessions for session JSON and JSONL files without overwriting recent live state. A scene editor lets you drag furniture into the office map, with the layout saved in browser storage, and completed agents are removed after a short delay. ./start.sh runs the backend on port 9000 and the Vite frontend on port 9001.
