Archived Hermes plugin that runs plan, execute, simplify and review phases as isolated subagents

In short

Jovaltus is an archived Hermes Agent plugin that runs a deterministic plan, execute, simplify and review pipeline by dispatching an isolated subagent for each phase.

What Jovaltus does

Jovaltus exposes four tools. The plan tool builds a task DAG through prd, research, acceptance and tasks subagents, writing artifacts into a .plan folder. The execute tool, called only after you approve the plan, starts an orchestrator subagent that works through tasks level by level and runs same-level tasks in parallel. The simplify and review tools run reviewer subagents in a loop until a verdict.json says pass, with review trying to break the changes rather than shorten them.

A plugin-owned state machine, saved to ~/.hermes/jovaltus_state.json, records every phase transition and allows resuming across sessions. Four hooks, subagent_start, subagent_stop, pre_llm_call and post_llm_call, advance the chain and inject a status line into each turn, so the main agent reads status rather than deciding the flow. Five utility skills are bundled: agentic-debugging, manage-agents-md, manage-git-repo, project-documentation and qa. The execute phase requires delegation.max_spawn_depth of at least 2.

Key features

  • Four tools: plan, execute, simplify and review
  • Persistent state machine with cross-session resume
  • Four hooks that drive phase transitions and inject pipeline status each turn
  • Orchestrator subagent that runs same-level tasks in parallel
  • Five bundled utility skills for debugging, AGENTS.md, git, documentation and QA

When to use it

  • Turning a feature request into a reviewed task plan and then implementing it with subagents
  • Running an adversarial review pass on uncommitted changes
  • Studying a deterministic subagent pipeline built on Hermes hooks

Who it is for: Developers who want a structured, subagent-driven coding pipeline in Hermes Agent, or who want to study how one is built.

How it fits with Hermes Agent

It is a Hermes plugin that uses Hermes subagent lifecycle hooks, profiles and delegation settings, and adds a hermes jovaltus command.

How to install Jovaltus

These commands are copied from the project's README. Check the repository for the latest steps before you run them.

pip install jovaltus && hermes plugins enable jovaltus
hermes jovaltus setup

Requirements: Hermes Agent with delegation.max_spawn_depth of 2 or more (set by hermes jovaltus setup); the fabricium dependency installs automatically
