CLI to inventory, export and safely merge learned skills across Hermes Agent profiles
hermes-my-skills is a Python command-line tool that finds the skills a Hermes Agent profile has learned and copies them into other profiles. It lets Hermes Agent users back up and share agent-created skills without moving keys or memories.
What hermes-my-skills does
hermes-my-skills is a command-line tool written in Python that works on the files Hermes Agent keeps on disk. It scans one or all profiles and lists skills that carry evidence of being learned, each tagged with a provenance class such as agent-created, ledger-created, ledger-modified, official-learned, hub-learned or local-unmanaged. The README notes that agent-created rests on a created_by: agent marker and is not proof of original authorship.
Selected skills can be exported to a tar.gz holding full skill directories and a manifest, then imported into another profile. Conflicts are skipped by default, a replace mode backs up the existing copy first, and an archived incoming variant never overwrites an active skill. Packages leave out API keys, sessions, memories, cron jobs and provider configuration, and imports check content hashes and reject path traversal. No Hermes Python internals are imported and there are no runtime dependencies.
Key features
- Lists evidence-backed skills per profile with six provenance classes
- Exports complete skill directories plus a manifest to a tar.gz
- Imports into a target profile with skip, prefer-profile or replace conflict handling
- Backs up existing copies before replacing them
- Excludes API keys, sessions, memories, cron jobs and model configuration from packages
- Finds the Hermes home from --home, HERMES_HOME, %LOCALAPPDATA%/hermes or ~/.hermes
When to use it
- Moving skills an agent learned in one profile into a fresh profile
- Keeping a portable backup of learned skills before reinstalling Hermes Agent
- Choosing one profile's version when the same skill differs across profiles
Who it is for: Hermes Agent users who run several profiles or want to back up and move the skills their agents have learned.
How it fits with Hermes Agent
It is an independent third-party tool built around Hermes Agent profiles, the curator ledger and skill directories. The README states it is not affiliated with or endorsed by Nous Research.
