What WhatsApp Group Summary does

WhatsApp Group Summary runs on top of a Hermes Agent WhatsApp gateway and records every message from every member of a group into JSONL log files, not only messages from whitelisted users. The bot stays silent during normal chat and only responds when it is @mentioned or given a slash command. Two cron jobs, at 07:00 and 23:00 WIB, read the logs and post a structured summary back to the group.

Summaries are written in casual Indonesian and cover the main discussion points, open questions, shared links, follow-up items and the top senders. An optional roast mode produces a sarcastic version of the same summary. The setup patches the Baileys bridge and the Python WhatsApp adapter so group messages bypass the allowlist, and it needs the Hermes setting cron.wrap_response set to false so summaries arrive without the cron job header and footer.
