What Hermes Companion (PC side) does

Hermes Companion is the computer half of a two-part setup with the Hermes-agent Android app. Once a phone and a computer are paired, they share one Hermes setup over your own network with no cloud service in between. Pairing happens once, by scanning a QR code in person, and both features then work inside that single trust domain.

Run on Computer, called mesh, lets you dispatch a task from the phone, have the computer's Hermes run it, and receive the result back. Desktop Handoff moves whole conversations between computer and phone in either direction, using by-id upserts and natural-key message deduplication so repeated syncs do not duplicate messages. Every payload is a NaCl Box between the paired devices, private keys never leave the device, and handoff exports read only state.db and the memories folder, never auth.json or .env. The broker binds to a LAN or Tailscale address, never 0.0.0.0, and a local browser console at 127.0.0.1 shows the pairing QR, status and task history.

Requirements: Python 3 with PyNaCl, zeroconf, qrcode and pillow (the start script installs them into ~/.hermes/mesh/venv), plus the Hermes-agent Android app on the phone; prebuilt binaries need no Python

Note: This is only the PC half and needs the separate Hermes-agent Android app, and the prebuilt macOS and Windows binaries are unsigned.
