What Hermes Weather Plugin does

Hermes Weather Plugin adds 13 weather tools to Hermes Agent. Data tools such as wx_conditions, wx_forecast, wx_alerts, wx_metar, wx_brief, wx_global and wx_severe call NWS, SPC, METAR and Open-Meteo directly from Python. Image tools render model fields, NEXRAD Level 2 radar and storm-analysis reflectivity images, and calculation tools cover meteorological calculations, model soundings and ECAPE with CAPE, CIN, LFC, EL and storm motion.

The plugin is Python-first, but heavy paths use Rust binaries or Rust-backed packages: rusbie, wrf-rust, rustweather, metrust, ecape-rs and a radar backend. Missing binaries are built on first use into ~/.hermes/weather/bin, which needs cargo and rustc unless you point to prebuilt ones through environment variables. Radar supports the rustdar backend by default or nexrad, with products such as ref, vel, sw, zdr, rho and phi. Model support is limited to subsets verified for extraction, including gfs, hrrr, nam, gefs, rap and graphcast for model images.
