Harness Mix
emo-xiaoyu/harness-mix
Codex Desktop extension that connects 18 coding harnesses, Hermes among them, in one native interface
Harness Mix is a local runtime that plugs into the official Codex Desktop interface and routes tasks to native coding harnesses, with Hermes Agent as one of 18 registered options. Tasks can be handed off between harnesses without leaving the Codex window.
What Harness Mix does
Harness Mix connects 18 registered harnesses to a single Codex Desktop interface: Antigravity, Codex, Claude Code, Pi, Oh My Pi, DeepSeek, OpenCode, Grok, OpenClaw, Hermes, Qoder, CodeBuddy, Kiro, Cursor, ZCode, Trae, Cline and Kimi Code. Default Codex sessions connect directly to the official app-server. When a user picks another harness or Codex collaboration mode, a separate Harness Mix Host handles the task. Model calls, tool execution, sessions and credentials stay with each harness.
Features listed in the README include four handoff modes between harnesses, a # menu for dispatching to a target harness, agent team templates, native subagent cards, skills and MCP management, a verification gate, a usage center covering the last 90 days and a health center. A harness only takes part in real runs if it is installed locally and its handshake succeeds.
Key features
- Cross-harness task handoff in four modes: continue, run plan, independent review and re-analyze
- Dispatch to a target harness with the # menu in the composer
- Agent team templates, including six built-in lineups such as code review and refactoring
- Native skills and MCP management across the registered harnesses
- Usage center that aggregates tokens and spend over the last 90 days
- Health center showing each harness handshake result
When to use it
- Moving a half-finished task to another harness for an independent review
- Running a team of agents on one goal with a lead harness
- Comparing token use and spend across several coding agents
Who it is for: Developers who use several coding agents and want them inside the Codex Desktop interface.
How it fits with Hermes Agent
Hermes is one of the 18 harnesses Harness Mix registers, and the repository carries the hermes-agent topic. Hermes runs as a native harness with its own credentials and models.
Requirements: Codex Desktop, plus each harness you want to use installed locally and passing the handshake
Note: The README says macOS and Linux source builds were added, but full desktop acceptance testing on those systems still has to be run on the target machines.
