What Hermes Context Manager does

The plugin, called HMC, is a port of the pi-dynamic-context-pruning plugin with additions. It works in two tiers. Single-message strategies, which include short-circuits for known success output, a code filter and truncation, run on every tool call. Full-list strategies, deduplication and error purging, run on each user turn and at session end. The main model is never told that compression happened.

The code filter strips function, class and struct bodies from source in tool output while keeping signatures, imports and docstrings, and supports Python, Rust, Go, JavaScript and TypeScript. Duplicate calls collapse to one result, with write_file and patch always protected. When context crosses a configurable threshold, an auxiliary model summarizes finished work ranges into a searchable per-session index. Extras include an opt-in localhost dashboard, SQLite token-savings analytics, an hmc_control tool and an /hmc slash command.
