What Storage Rescue does

Storage Rescue is plain text: a SKILL.md plus reference files the agent loads when needed, with no runtime, no script to install and no network call of its own. The agent first asks whether you have an external drive, then runs a read-only survey of where the space went, including System Data, and returns grouped questions with sizes and options such as move, delete or keep. It marks its recommendation and acts only on your answers.

In Offload mode, files are copied to the drive and compared by SHA-256 twice, once after copying and again after the drive is unmounted and mounted again. The Mac copy is deleted only if the source is unchanged since copying, and each move is logged in a manifest on the drive with a plain-text README on restoring. In Reclaim mode, caches and rebuildable output are cleared with each tool's official command, such as brew cleanup, npm cache clean or xcrun simctl, and personal files go through the Trash first. The README cites one 1 TB Mac that went from 968.39 GB used to 366.42 GB used.
