Always-on attention sidecar that wakes Claude Code, OpenClaw, Codex or Hermes only when something matters
ZugaMind is an always-on attention sidecar that watches your sources without model calls and wakes an agent harness, including Hermes, with a briefing only when something wins a salience contest and clears a budget gate. It uses only the Python standard library.
What ZugaMind does
Cron wakes an agent on a schedule; ZugaMind wakes it because something happened. It watches configured sources for free, with no model calls while idle, runs a Global Workspace salience competition over what it sees, and wakes the harness with a continuity briefing only when something wins and clears a fail-closed budget gate.
The zugamind command starts a detached daemon that keeps running after the terminal closes, and any terminal can attach to watch it. Subcommands include start, status, watch and stop, plus operator tools doctor, logs, budget, explain and verify --dry-run. An offline demo needs no key or network, and the README reports 262 tests that run without network access. It runs on Linux, macOS and Windows with Python 3.10 to 3.13. Example harness configs sit in examples/harness-configs, and an integration for a shared fix pool called AgentPool is described.
