Chinese-language source-level study of Hermes Agent, with comparisons to OpenClaw and related projects
Hermes Agent Study is a Chinese-language research series that analyzes Hermes Agent from usage and principles down to source code. It also compares Hermes with OpenClaw, EvoMap Evolver, OpenHarness and JiuwenClaw.
What Hermes Agent Study does
The series has 39 articles (32 body chapters plus an upgrade topic), 97 architecture diagrams and more than 13,000 lines of research text. Part I covers usage and principles in 11 chapters, from design philosophy and startup flow to configuration, cron, skills, the gateway, MCP, system prompt assembly, providers, memory, the self-evolution engine and profile isolation. Part II has 14 chapters of source analysis on context compression, session persistence, the tool system, terminal sandboxes, browser automation, MCP, sub-agent delegation and the gateway.
Part III has seven chapters comparing Hermes with related projects, and the series also covers the controversy around EvoMap's claims about Hermes' self-evolve feature and the AutoResearch topic. The study was based on Hermes Agent v0.9.0 and was updated in May 2026 with an article on the v0.10 to v0.14 releases, which it lists as bringing the Transport ABC, an Ink TUI, an autonomous Curator, a multi-agent Kanban, the /goal loop, a PyPI package and native Windows support.
