What Hermes Russian Locale does

The translation lives in one file, ru.ts, plus ru-constants.ts for the names and descriptions of settings fields. Because it uses defineLocale(), the Hermes mechanism for partial translations, any key missing from the Russian file falls back to English, so new strings added by a Hermes update simply appear in English until they are translated. The locale aliases ru, ru-ru, ru_ru and the Russian word for Russian all resolve to the same language.

install.ps1 finds the Hermes install through PATH or the local app data folder, copies the two files, patches types.ts, catalog.ts and languages.ts, and runs npm run build. A manual route copies the files and edits those three registrations by hand. Afterward you select Russian under Settings, then Appearance, in Hermes Desktop.
