Free open-source Android and iOS companion app for Hermes Agent
Mercury is an independent, open-source mobile companion app for Hermes Agent on Android and iOS, built on a shared Kotlin Multiplatform core. It connects to Hermes Cloud or a self-hosted server for streaming chat, approvals and session control from a phone.
What Mercury does
Mercury connects to an unchanged Hermes Agent backend supplied by hermes dashboard or headless hermes serve. It browses projects and sessions, streams replies token by token over a direct WebSocket with tool activity and reasoning shown inline, and lets you answer tool approvals, clarify questions and secret prompts from the phone. Artifacts and host files the agent produced open natively, and images, PDFs and text can be shared into a session from other apps.
For access it supports native Nous OAuth with system-browser PKCE, cookie-backed username and password auth, and a Mercury Relay option that pairs by QR code for end-to-end encrypted Noise XK chat when a direct server origin is unreachable. Voice features appear only when the server exposes the official /api/audio routes. Android shows a foreground-service notification when a turn finishes, while iOS uses best-effort local notifications. The Android UI adapts to foldables, split screen and DeX.
