What Hermes Cursor Agent does

Hermes Cursor Agent is a model provider plugin that lets Hermes Agent use the Cursor Agent CLI as its chat backend. Hermes speaks OpenAI-style chat completions, so the plugin acts as a small OpenAI-compatible shim. For each request it starts a short-lived cursor-agent process, parses the stream-json output, and passes incremental assistant text back to Hermes, whether the request came from the CLI, the gateway, Open WebUI or Telegram.

The plugin lives under $HERMES_HOME/plugins/model-providers/cursor-agent/, so hermes update does not overwrite it. The Cursor key goes in ~/.hermes/.env as CURSOR_API_KEY, and the provider is chosen through hermes model or by setting provider: cursor-agent and base_url: acp://cursor in config.yaml. If a named model is out of usage, the client retries once with the auto model. An optional filter script redacts secrets from live stream-json logs.
