Hermes CLI Orchestrator

srikanthmx/hermes-cli-orchestrator

Hermes plugin that pools model providers and local AI CLIs and switches the primary model from Telegram

In short

Hermes CLI Orchestrator is a control-plane plugin for Hermes Agent that pools model providers and local AI command-line tools so the agent keeps running when one quota runs out. It adds a dashboard, a one-command brain switch usable from Telegram or Discord, and cap-aware delegation to local CLIs.

What Hermes CLI Orchestrator does

Hermes CLI Orchestrator treats a pool of providers as the agent's brain. It targets quota walls: according to the README, Hermes does not rotate away from a primary model that returns a hard 429, so one exhausted plan can stop the agent. The plugin lets you stack subscriptions, free OAuth logins, free API tiers, trial credits, local AI CLIs and multiple accounts per provider. The /cli-brain command then changes the primary without an LLM in the loop, so it still works when the current model is down. It re-pins enabled cron jobs and restarts the gateway, and it never changes the primary on its own.

A dashboard with Backends, Brains and Routing tabs shows what is installed, signed in, verified and cooling down, with per-category routing for coding, chat, image, audio, video, research, docs and automation. The cli_delegate tool and /cli-delegate command send heavy tasks to local CLIs such as Codex, agy or OpenCode, skip any CLI over its daily cap and fall back on rate limits. It uses only Hermes's documented plugin contracts and modifies nothing in the Hermes source tree.

Key features

  • /cli-brain switches the primary provider from Telegram or Discord with no LLM in the loop
  • /cli-brain test makes one real call to verify a provider and record or clear its cooldown
  • Three-tab dashboard: Backends, Brains and Routing
  • cli_delegate and /cli-delegate route tasks to local CLIs and skip any CLI over its daily cap
  • Credential pooling UI that wraps the native hermes auth command
  • Free media options: Pollinations image generation, Edge TTS, faster-whisper STT and a generate_music tool

When to use it

  • Keeping a Hermes agent running when a subscription or free tier hits its quota
  • Changing the primary model from a phone while the current model is unavailable
  • Offloading heavy coding tasks to Codex or OpenCode while respecting daily caps

Who it is for: Hermes Agent users who run on a mix of subscriptions, free tiers and local CLIs and want to manage them from one place.

How it fits with Hermes Agent

Built as a Hermes Agent plugin that extends Hermes's own provider governance, such as fallback, pooled credentials and cron, to command-line tools installed on the machine.
