Hermes Desktop plugin to annotate Markdown passages and send the review back to the agent in one batch
Redline for Hermes Desktop is a plugin that turns any Markdown file written by a Hermes agent into a review surface where you attach comments, questions and change requests to selected passages.
What Redline for Hermes Desktop does
When Hermes writes a reviewable Markdown document with its file tools, Redline adds a card to the final response that opens the document in a pane docked beside the chat. Selecting a passage offers a comment, a question or a change request, shown as a floating card with a margin marker. Each annotation can be added to a list or sent immediately. A batch arrives in the chat as one structured message, numbered to match your notes, and the pane refreshes as the agent edits the file.
Annotations are stored in a sidecar file next to the document (doc.md.redline.json), so open threads, resolved threads and sent items survive restarts. The plugin has three parts: a Desktop plugin.js, a small FastAPI backend in dashboard/plugin_api.py and the sidecar. The README discloses that it reads any local .md or .markdown path you name (up to 1 MB), writes only the sidecar, makes no network calls beyond the local Hermes gateway, and uses a transform_llm_output hook to append its card directive to responses.
