What China Briefing does

China Briefing is a Hermes skill that generates Chinese-language news briefings at any geographic scale, from a single street to the whole world. It builds search terms from the requested scale, runs real-time searches with the Tavily API through web_search, writes a structured briefing and runs a quality gate before delivery. Search depth is tied to scale: global briefings use advanced search with 10 results, while district and street briefings use basic search with 5.

A briefing contains a core conclusion, three headline items with commentary, two to four categories of hot topics, an optional data board and a prioritized action table. If a search times out, the skill retries, then widens the scale, then falls back to cached history. The quality gate lives in references/quality-gate.md, and stated user interests such as housing, employment, social insurance, prices and policy can extend the search terms through semantic memory. API keys are read from ~/.hermes/.env or config.yaml, not stored in the repository.
