What Working Memory System does

You talk to it in a chat reserved for the purpose, or prefix a message with 'Hey memory' in any chat Hermes is connected to. A capture gate, implemented as a Hermes hook, decides whether a message is memory input and buffers messages for a few seconds, so several thoughts typed in a row become one turn. The agent then classifies the message under the policy in SKILL.md and files it.

Destinations are Todoist for anything with a deadline or a quick errand, one growing note per series for repeated measurements, and typed notes in an Obsidian vault for facts, decisions, procedures, people and ideas. The system keeps no copy of the raw message. Notes are organised by how they will be retrieved and by their lifecycle rather than by subject, and that model is written up separately in second-brain-schema.md.
