BootAgent

MaimoryLab/BootAgent

Local desktop workspace to install, configure and manage AI coding agents, Skills and MCP servers

In short

BootAgent is a local desktop workspace that detects, installs and configures AI coding agents, then manages their model Providers, Profiles, Skills and MCP servers in one place. For Hermes Agent users it can discover MCP servers from initialized Hermes installations.

What BootAgent does

BootAgent is aimed at the setup problem on a fresh machine. It scans for agents already installed, lets you connect a Provider (a built-in one or any OpenAI-compatible or Anthropic-compatible endpoint), saves reusable Profiles, runs setup and gets to a first successful request without editing several tool-specific files by hand. A Task Center shows the source, progress and diagnostic output of long installs and updates, and uninstalling an instance keeps Profiles, Providers, configuration and conversations.

It also keeps a local Skill library, scans Skills already present on supported agents and lets you choose which agents receive each one. MCP servers are discovered from initialized Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Kilo CLI and Hermes installations, and API keys are kept in private local storage. A multimodal Skill covers image understanding and generation, speech and video, and the app shows which Provider models handle images, video or audio. A Marketplace lists Skills, MCP servers, plugins and AI products, and a setup can be exported as a JSON file or bundle for another machine.

Key features

  • Detects, installs, updates, launches and uninstalls supported CLI and desktop agents
  • Built-in Providers plus custom OpenAI-compatible or Anthropic-compatible endpoints
  • Reusable Profiles selectable from each agent's configuration screen
  • Local Skill library with per-agent selection
  • MCP server discovery from Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Kilo CLI and Hermes
  • Import and export of a setup as a v1 JSON file or a v2 bundle

When to use it

  • Setting up several coding agents on a new computer from one app
  • Switching agents between model Providers using saved Profiles
  • Moving an agent setup to another machine
  • Seeing which MCP servers are already configured across installed agents

Who it is for: Developers who run several AI coding agents, including Hermes Agent, and want one tool to configure Providers, Skills and MCP servers.

How it fits with Hermes Agent

A general agent manager that lists Hermes among the installations it can read MCP servers from, rather than a tool built only for Hermes Agent.

Requirements: An API key from a model Provider; ffmpeg for video understanding and Node.js 18 or later for the multimodal Skill script
