VRChat Assistant

Self-hosted VRChat friend monitor that exposes an MCP toolset for AI agents such as Hermes

In short

VRChat Assistant is a self-hosted background service that tracks your VRChat friends in real time and exposes the data and many VRChat actions as MCP tools for AI agents such as Hermes. It stores activity in a local SQLite database.

What VRChat Assistant does

VRChat Assistant is a resident Node.js service that watches your VRChat friends in real time over a WebSocket and stores their online and offline events, world changes, avatar changes and status changes in a local SQLite database. It exposes everything through MCP so an AI agent such as Hermes can look up friends, recommend rooms, search worlds and BOOTH assets, send boops and invites, manage VRC+ photos and groups, and produce a weekly gaming report.

The service reconnects automatically and can log in unattended by fetching email OTP codes over IMAP or by using a TOTP secret. Functionality is split between core tools and official plugins such as booth, groups, media, recommend and world-kb, and a skills folder documents the MCP tools and query workflows. The database is backed up automatically every 24 hours, and a Hermes plugin can launch the service and restart it after a crash. The project describes itself as AI-first, with READMEs in Chinese, English and Japanese.
