What renpy-mcp does

renpy-mcp offers three ways to work: the browser editor alone, the editor alongside an AI assistant pointed at the same project, or the assistant alone in the terminal. The editor has a Story Map of draggable label cards, a Scene Inspector that shows a label's events as typed cards, a Choice View of menus and their guards, a Library for characters, assets, variables, screens and mini-games, and a Localization view with per-language translation coverage.

The MCP server exposes dozens of tools in tiers, and every edit goes through a single guarded write pipeline meant to keep files lint-clean. An ambient header shows the last edited file and runs renpy.sh lint in the background. After pip installing, renpy-mcp --fetch-sdk downloads the Ren'Py SDK to ~/.cache/renpy-mcp/, or you pass --sdk or set $RENPY_SDK.
