What Hermes Quote Selection does

Hermes Quote Selection is a Hermes Desktop plugin for quoting agent output back at the agent. Select part of a reply, press Cmd+Option+L (Ctrl+Alt+L on Windows and Linux) or click the Add to chat button, and the text lands in the composer as an inline chip. On send, each chip becomes > blockquote lines where it sits. Chips can be stacked, hovered to read in full, removed with the x or Backspace, and they survive switching away from the chat.

The chip is real editor content built in the same shape as the composer's @file: references, so the app's own serializer sends the quote and the plugin keeps no state and needs no send middleware. It pads quote text with blank lines so typed text stays outside the quote, and adds a zero-width space after @kind: sequences so text in agent output cannot become a live attachment. It has no network access, storage or telemetry. Because it relies on internal Hermes Desktop markup, an app update can break it, and it checks at load and warns.
