Hermes Telegram Artifacts

Artifact server and skill that delivers interactive HTML widgets as Telegram Mini Apps

In short

Hermes Telegram Artifacts is a standalone toolkit that serves HTML artifacts and sends them to Telegram as Mini App buttons, so a Hermes Agent can deliver interactive widgets inside a chat. It also works with any Telegram bot that supports Mini Apps.

What Hermes Telegram Artifacts does

The idea is inspired by Claude's artifact panel. Telegram cannot render inline HTML, so the agent writes an HTML artifact, artifact-server.py stores it under ~/.hermes/artifacts/ and serves it on port 9877, and send-artifact.py posts a web_app button to the chat. Tapping the Open button slides the artifact up as a Mini App panel. The server uses only the Python standard library and has no database or auth.

A gallery page at /artifacts/all lets you browse, open and delete earlier artifacts, and artifacts can keep state such as checked shopping lists in localStorage, which is device-local. Telegram requires HTTPS for Mini Apps, so an HTTP-only server needs a reverse proxy such as nginx, caddy or Tailscale Serve. The README suggests giving your Hermes agent the repository link so it can handle install and configuration, leaving the Mini App setup through @BotFather as the one manual step.

Key features

  • Standard-library Python artifact server on port 9877
  • Telegram web_app buttons that open artifacts as Mini Apps
  • Gallery page at /artifacts/all to browse and delete past artifacts
  • localStorage persistence for artifact state
  • Works with Hermes Agent or any Telegram bot that supports Mini Apps

When to use it

  • Having a Hermes agent reply in Telegram with an interactive widget instead of plain text
  • Keeping a checklist or form state that survives closing Telegram
  • Browsing earlier artifacts without scrolling through chat history

Who it is for: Hermes Agent users on Telegram who want interactive HTML output from their agent.

How it fits with Hermes Agent

Built for Hermes Agent: artifacts are stored under ~/.hermes/artifacts/, the bot token is read from ~/.hermes/.env, and the repository ships a skill the agent can use.

How to install Hermes Telegram Artifacts

These commands are copied from the project's README. Check the repository for the latest steps before you run them.

git clone https://github.com/camel-vibe/hermes-telegram-artifacts.git
cd hermes-telegram-artifacts
pip install python-telegram-bot python-dotenv requests

Requirements: Python 3.10+, a Telegram bot with Mini Apps enabled through @BotFather, an HTTPS endpoint for the artifact server, and python-telegram-bot, python-dotenv and requests

Note: Telegram requires HTTPS for Mini Apps, so an HTTP-only server needs a reverse proxy, and the artifact server has no database or authentication.
