Hermes Studio

Self-hostable browser IDE for Hermes agents with chat, file tree, terminal, memory and GitHub workspaces

In short

Hermes Studio is a self-hostable, browser-based agent workspace that combines chat, a file tree, an integrated terminal, memory and skills, and per-user GitHub workspaces. It is built on TanStack Start with Supabase for sign-in and data, and it talks to a Hermes agent through an OpenAI-compatible gateway.

What Hermes Studio does

Hermes Studio is the studio-core engine, a single codebase that builds several branded studios selected at build time with VITE_BRAND. The hermes brand is the agent IDE base with chat, files, terminal, memory and skills. The default sylang brand adds the Sylang MBSE toolset, with coverage, traceability and FMEA views plus DSL and diagram editors, and a sample brand serves as a copyable template for making your own.

The stack is TanStack Start (React 19 SSR), Vite and Tailwind, with Supabase for authentication and Postgres data and a GitHub OAuth provider for sign-in. Chat needs an agent gateway, which can be any OpenAI-compatible backend such as the Hermes agent or LiteLLM, set through HERMES_API_URL. Secrets are encrypted at rest with an AES-256-GCM key, and each user's GitHub clones live in a workspace directory. It requires Node 22 or later and pnpm 9.

Key features

  • Browser workspace with chat, file tree, integrated terminal, memory and skills
  • Per-user GitHub workspaces stored under a configurable directory
  • Brand system selected by VITE_BRAND, with hermes, sylang and sample brands
  • Supabase authentication with GitHub OAuth
  • Works with any OpenAI-compatible agent gateway set in HERMES_API_URL
  • Secrets encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM

When to use it

  • Hosting a shared browser workspace where each user gets their own GitHub-backed project folder
  • Giving a team a web front end for a Hermes agent gateway
  • Copying the sample brand to ship a custom-branded agent IDE

Who it is for: Developers and teams who want to self-host a browser IDE in front of a Hermes agent and are ready to run Supabase.

How it fits with Hermes Agent

Built around Hermes agents: the hermes brand is the base IDE, and chat talks to a Hermes agent through an OpenAI-compatible gateway.
