Scarf

awizemann/scarf

Native macOS app and iPhone companion for managing Hermes Agent, locally or over SSH

In short

Scarf is a native macOS and iOS app for the Hermes AI agent, with multi-window and multi-server support for local and remote hosts over SSH. It shows sessions, projects, skills, memory files and cron jobs, and lets you chat, edit memory and skills, and manage MCP servers from a GUI.

What Scarf does

Scarf is written in pure Swift 6 and SwiftUI, with no Electron. It opens Hermes state read-only and sends management actions through the hermes CLI, so it cannot corrupt the agent's data. It works with a local ~/.hermes/ directory or any number of remote hosts over plain SSH, using your existing ssh config, with no companion service in between.

The Mac app provides live dashboards, full-text search, activity feeds and cost breakdowns, plus chat over ACP or a real terminal. It detects each host's Hermes version and hides newer-only features on older hosts, and Hermes v0.6 through v0.21 are listed as working. ScarfGo, the iPhone companion, is free on the App Store and offers project-scoped chat with session resume, a skills browser, a memory editor, cron and per-server profile switching. The UI is available in seven languages.

Key features

  • Dashboards for every session, message, tool call, token and dollar
  • Chat with streaming over ACP or a real terminal
  • Edit memory and skills, and manage cron, gateways and MCP servers from a GUI
  • Local and multiple remote hosts over plain SSH with no middleman service
  • Version-adaptive interface covering Hermes v0.6 through v0.21
  • ScarfGo iPhone companion with an on-device Ed25519 key stored in the iOS Keychain

When to use it

  • Checking on a Hermes Agent running on a home server from your iPhone
  • Reviewing token and cost breakdowns across sessions
  • Editing Hermes memory files and cron jobs without touching YAML

Who it is for: Hermes Agent users on Mac or iPhone who want a native graphical front end instead of the terminal alone.

How it fits with Hermes Agent

Built specifically for Hermes Agent and works with local and remote Hermes hosts. Management actions go through the hermes CLI.

Requirements: A Hermes Agent host, either local in ~/.hermes/ or reachable over SSH

Note: The macOS app collects usage statistics by default, which can be turned off in Settings under Advanced.
