Restrained Omarchy desktop theme with an optional Hermes agent status indicator in the bar
Hermarchy is a monochrome research-workstation theme for the Omarchy Linux desktop, with an optional status indicator that shows when a Hermes agent is executing. The base theme works without Hermes installed.
What Hermarchy does
Hermarchy coordinates Omarchy's desktop, shell, launcher, terminal and editor palettes, notifications, browser accents, lock screen and TUI surfaces, and ships three original 3840x2400 wallpapers plus a transparent lock mark. The look is near-black and graphite with warm white for human-readable content, roughly 95 percent monochrome and 5 percent signal color. Cyan marks active focus or agent execution only, amber marks explicit human input, and green and red show temporary completed or failed outcomes.
The base theme installs from the Omarchy menu or with omarchy theme install, and activates with omarchy theme set hermarchy. It does not install Hermes. An opt-in second step installs a read-only local adapter and a user-local Quickshell plugin that adds a compact HERMES state signal to the bar. Clicking it opens a bounded panel built from validated local state. If Hermes is absent or its state cannot be read, the indicator stays muted and reports unavailable or unknown rather than claiming activity. The project describes itself as an independent community theme.
