Local-first usage and cost meter for AI coding agents including Claude Code, Codex and Hermes
Tokimeter is a local-first usage and cost meter that reads the usage metadata AI coding agents already store on your machine, and the repository lists Hermes among the supported tools. It reports spend, tokens and limits without an account or telemetry.
What Tokimeter does
Tokimeter reads the usage metadata that coding agents already keep on disk and turns it into one local report. Running npx tokimeter report prints total spend, call counts, token totals, estimated savings from prompt caching, and breakdowns by tool, model, project and day. The flags --days=7, --tool claude|codex and --json are supported.
A full install adds budgets, limit warnings and live status-line displays. The limits command groups observed usage into 5-hour and 7-day windows measured against budgets you set. Tokimeter reads usage metadata rather than prompts or responses, and its local features need no account, provider API key, proxy or telemetry. Hermes appears in the repository description and topics next to Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Grok Build, opencode, Cline and Copilot CLI.
Key features
