Obsidian task notes and a stall-recovery loop for Hermes agents
Hermes Memory Keep-Alive for Obsidian is a skill and cron-job bundle that gives Hermes agents durable per-task notes in an Obsidian vault, plus an optional loop that revives stalled work. It helps Hermes Agent users keep long tasks going across restarts and context loss.
What Hermes Memory Keep-Alive for Obsidian does
For every task the agent receives, the skill creates a folder in an Obsidian vault with three notes: RESUME.md for status and the next action, CHECKLIST.md for step-by-step progress, and DOCS.md for decisions and gotchas. A validator job runs every 60 minutes to repair missing notes and keep a workflow index current, and it warns when the built-in MEMORY.md passes 80 percent of its 2,200-character limit. A smoke test runs every 360 minutes and checks hermes memory status.
The keep-alive loop is armed with /loop-start and disarmed with /loop-stop. While armed, a watchdog checks every 15 minutes for a stalled agent and writes a recovery note, a replayer takes one concrete step on a stalled task every 30 minutes, and an escalator forces a fresh-session restart after 60 minutes if the same stall keeps repeating. The installer adds five cron jobs to Hermes. Version 1.1.0 adds compatibility with the pluggable memory provider system in Hermes 0.7.0 and later.
Key features

- Validator that repairs missing notes and watches MEMORY.md capacity
- Smoke test that checks the active Hermes memory provider
When to use it
- Resume a long coding or research task after a restart or context compaction
- Leave an agent working on a long task and have stalls detected and nudged
- Keep a browsable workflow index of everything the agent has worked on
