Builder Essential Skills

Reusable agent skills for planning, research, building and review, with a Hermes session profiler

In short

Builder Essential Skills is a collection of installable agent skills for planning, building, researching, learning, validating, writing and reviewing, written mainly for Claude Code and Codex. Its session-profiler skill can analyze Hermes Agent sessions.

What Builder Essential Skills does

Each skill lives in skills/NAME/SKILL.md, and some also ship scripts, reference material or agent definitions. Named skills include lead and lead-research, which use the subagent tools of whichever runtime runs them and probe concurrency, isolation, messaging, shell, write and web capabilities at the start of a run. Others are async-learning-teacher, map-the-landscape and paper-opportunity-radar. A runtime without native subagent delegation stops instead of letting the orchestrator write code or do research itself.

The session-profiler skill is the main Hermes link. After installation, a wrapper script under the Hermes home lists and parses sessions with --provider hermes, then reports agent summaries, costs, slowest tools, errors and turns, and can write a brief.md or a Perfetto trace. The README says cost reports are estimates from public model pricing rather than billing records, and that traces can contain prompts, code and file paths, so they should be reviewed before sharing.

Key features

  • Skills for planning, building, research, learning, validation, writing and review
  • Lead and lead-research skills that assign work by role using the host's subagent tools
  • Session-profiler skill with a Hermes provider option
  • Brief and Perfetto trace output with per-agent lanes and token and cost counters
  • User-level or project-level install through an npx installer or shell scripts

When to use it

  • Profiling slow tools and errors across Hermes sessions
  • Running a plan-build-review workflow with subagents in Claude Code or Codex
  • Installing a single skill into one repository to try it

Who it is for: Developers who use Claude Code or Codex daily and want a shared set of workflow skills, including some who also run Hermes Agent.

How it fits with Hermes Agent

Supports Hermes Agent in one skill: session-profiler reads Hermes sessions, and the repository is tagged hermes-agent. The installers themselves target Claude Code and Codex directories.
