Local-first coordination for human and agent work: durable work, decisions, dispatches and evidence
Maestro is a local-first coordination system, written in TypeScript on Bun, that records work, decisions, sessions and evidence for people and coding agents in each repository's shared Git root. Its repository carries the hermes and hermes-agent topics.
What Maestro does
Maestro keeps durable work, decisions, sessions, evidence, dispatches and handbacks in the repository's shared Git root and does not need a background service. It has three layers: a mechanism kernel with a SQLite store, event log, sessions, CLI dispatch and plugin loading; plugins that add verbs and optional policy gates such as proof and breakdown; and recipes and skills written as Markdown.
Installing scaffolds a ~/maestro Supervisor room and materializes ten managed skills, including maestro-work, maestro-verify and maestro-council, then links them for Claude. SLP supervised teams run a Hub Supervisor, Team Supervisor, Lead and Peers, with each seat launched as a native harness profile through claude or codex. maestro doctor inspects the setup without repairing it, and maestro update accepts only fast-forwards.
Key features
- SQLite store and event log kept in each repository's shared Git root
- Plugins that add verbs and optional policy gates, enabled per repository in .maestro/config

- Ten managed skills including maestro-work, maestro-verify and maestro-council
- maestro doctor checks the shim, runtime stamp, repository wiring and store access
When to use it
- Coordinating several coding agents on one repository with recorded decisions and evidence
- Running a supervised team of agents made up of a lead and peers
- Keeping a repository-local audit trail of what agents did and why
