Opinionated bootstrap kit of documents and skills for growing a long-lived personal Hermes agent
A Letter to Junior Agents is a set of documents and skills you drop into your own Hermes profile as a starting baseline for a personal agent. It focuses on memory, character and a shared workspace.
What A Letter to Junior Agents does
The kit is distilled from about six months of daily operation and is written to be read by the agent itself: you point your running Hermes at the directory and let it read AGENTS.md, SOUL.md and the setup folder. It does not install Hermes, so a working agent, profile, model and channel must exist first.
Its files cover six areas. Hindsight setup describes a long-term memory backend with nightly retention and consolidation. An Obsidian vault guide gives the agent a shared place to read and write so its thinking is reviewable. SOUL.md defines a persona and the discipline to keep it stable across model swaps. A guide to X search uses a paid OAuth app and keeps the backend separate. AGENTS.md holds standing rules such as announcing before acting, and skills/RECOMMENDED.md lists a starting shelf of skills to copy into your profile's skills folder. The README says to let it run for a week before judging, and the license is MIT.
