AstraBox

Colton-z/AstraBox

Self-hosted platform that runs Hermes, Claude Code, Codex, DeepSeek Harness and Pi as managed Agents

In short

AstraBox is an open-source, self-hosted alternative to Claude Managed Agents that runs agent programs such as Hermes, Claude Code, Codex, DeepSeek Harness and Pi as cloud Agents on your own infrastructure.

What AstraBox does

AstraBox runs the agent programs you already use as cloud Agents on your own infrastructure, with any model. It handles sandboxes, streaming, state and credentials, so you do not have to turn an agent program into a service yourself. Each Agent runs the real program inside its sandbox, and the program's native session is kept in the platform database and restored into a new sandbox on the next message. Credentials are injected at the egress boundary, so the Agent only sees a placeholder.

Agents can be started from the web console, HTTP API, CLI, MCP, schedules, signed webhooks and messaging platforms such as Slack, Discord, Telegram, WhatsApp and LINE. A LiteLLM model gateway is bundled and on by default, Casdoor team login can be switched on in the installer, and Agents and Assistants can publish versioned pages. The core concepts are Agent, Environment, Session and Event, and an Assistant is one person's long-lived workspace. A one-command installer targets a Linux host or WSL 2 with Docker.

Key features

  • Runs the real vendor Agent program inside an isolated sandbox
  • Sessions survive a lost sandbox and are restored on the next message
  • Credentials injected at the egress boundary, with only a placeholder visible to the Agent
  • Triggers from web console, API, CLI, MCP, schedules, webhooks and chat platforms
  • Bundled LiteLLM model gateway with budgets and usage logs
  • Optional Casdoor team login

When to use it

  • Hosting Hermes alongside other coding agents for a team on your own servers
  • Triggering an agent from a signed webhook or a schedule
  • Giving each person a long-lived Assistant workspace

Who it is for: Teams and individuals who want to run coding agents as managed, sandboxed services on infrastructure they control.

How it fits with Hermes Agent

Hermes is one of the five agent programs AstraBox can run as a managed Agent, next to Claude Code, Codex, DeepSeek Harness and Pi.
