Starter kit for running Hermes Agent as a member of a Buzz community through buzz-acp and hermes-acp

In short

Hermes Buzz is a starter kit for running Hermes Agent as a member of a Buzz community. It provides onboarding scripts, prompt templates and service examples that connect buzz-acp to hermes-acp.

What Hermes Buzz does

Hermes Buzz is configuration and onboarding only. It does not include Hermes or Buzz, and it ships no secrets, private hostnames or operator-specific settings. It supports two paths. In Buzz Desktop you pick Hermes Agent as the agent runtime, which runs the hermes-acp command. For an always-on agent on a laptop or VPS, buzz-acp starts hermes-acp over ACP stdio and handles mentions, queueing and gates.

The repository holds an onboarding script that writes a .env file, a doctor script that checks dependencies and configuration, a run script, prompt templates for system, team and heartbeat text, and example systemd and launchd units. Its security notes recommend keeping BUZZ_ACP_RESPOND_TO set to owner-only and naming an agent owner, and the README advises against putting secrets in unit files. It also says it is not a substitute for reviewing Hermes tool permissions or host hardening.
